Spotlight Saturday: Healing Salt Crystal Heart and Cranberry Rice Milk Cleansing Pads

by Alex @ Raw Recovery on May 5, 2012

I have to say I’m really excited for Spotlight Saturdays! Once upon a time, I started a beauty blog (my first ever blog) because I love products and “girl junk” as my Dad calls it (and to be fair, I have an entire under-sink cabinet plus three massive rubbermaid containers full of products to prove it–just in Colorado!).  I want to mix in some chachkies with it because they can make life really fun :)

Ok so first up is the beauty product: Arcona Triad Refresh Pads. These are toner pads that cleanse, tone and hydrate, “infusing skin with protective antioxidants to leave it glowing and refreshed. Ideal for travel, office and handbag. Protect and clarify skin with antimicrobial cranberry, containing vitamins, phyto-nutrients and essential fatty acids. Neutralize free radicals with vitamin E tocopherols and tocotrienols. Nourish and heal skin with omegas 3, 6 and 9 and rice milk” (source).

I was introduced to the Arcona line by my mom and she knew I would be skeptical.  Having worked in an Aveda spa several times and adamantly declaring that no product could match Aveda’s, I went to the Woodhouse Day Spa in Denver and switched sides almost immediately upon viewing the results of my facial.  Arcona is top notch, affordable, natural skin care.  Yes it is more expensive than what you can buy at CVS but in terms of natural, effective beauty, it is hands down the best I’ve tried, and I’ve tried A LOT of products.  I use these pads in conjunction with their essential 5 line for oily skin (I have more normal skin but occasional breakouts) and these are great for basic makeup removal and cleansing after yoga/being outdoors, and to be honest I use them when I’ve had a long day and I’m too tired to wash my face.  They smell edible because they are made with fruit enzymes and rice milk and they are so soft.  I highly recommend them.  It took me about two months to go through the jar using them several times a week.  Right now, I believe the Arcona website is selling 2 jars for $45 instead of 1 for $30.  Note: I am not being paid by Arcona and have NO affiliation with them other than the fact that I use and love their products.  This is just me showin’ them some love :)

Second Spotlight: Healing Salt Crystal Heart

I got this Salt Crystal Heart at Ten Thousand Villages at the mall the other day and I am so excited because I am in love with salt crystals!! They are supposed to release negative ions when they are heated and help reduce pollutants and other stuff floating in the air, but that hasn’t really been scientifically proven.  However, they are beautiful to look at and for me they are really calming.  My yoga studio has a salt crystal lamp in one of the rooms and that’s when I first saw one.  The glow is just so gorgeous and healing and I bought a salt crystal candle, which I will show you another day :)

I used this heart today as sort of a grounding stone and I love the texture and the weight of it. Even if it isn’t scientifically proven to be healing, I learned throughout my eating disorder treatment that crystals themselves can be healing in different ways.  I like to think of it as absorbing my negative energy and giving me healing, comforting, rejuvenating energy.  If this is too hippy-dippy for you, that’s cool, to each her own.  I just know that it was a good purchase for me and it makes for a pretty decoration too.

I hope you will enjoy the Saturday Spotlight series! Have a great evening!

Such a fun post and I love that you went into detail about salt crystal. I always see them at the store and have been exceptionally curious but never brave enough to buy one since I could’t quite figure out what they did. Now I will! Thanks :)
